The trends of Depop 2024

Throughout the years we have all witnessed countless trends coming and going. Hundreds, or even thousands of people engaging with one trend or another, not mentioning all of us being guilty of following one, or even a few ourselves.

Depop is a popular platform which has multiple trends constantly growing and fading. This much loved online marketplace is a great hunting ground for vintage and secondhand fashion, and it's also a well known breeding ground for new rising trends.

Earlier this year Depop released their Depop Trend Report of 2024 which also shed some light on previous trends from 2023. Data showed that last year the most popular era listed on the platform was Y2K clothing with having over 8 million items listed, this was closely followed up by the Sportsmania style trend which had gathered a total of 6 million listings. During the start of 2023 Barbiecore has also seen an increase in rise of 135% in terms of searches following the release of the new Barbie movie.

2023 was the "year of extremes", according to Depop. In contrast, 2024 is shaping up to be the year of "dual reality". 2024 is a year of contrasts. People are mixing comfort with individuality, formality with nonchalance, and romance is sobering up. This duality has been seen to be reflected in fashion, where we're able to see a mix of classic and edgy styles.

Depop had identified 4 different trending styles we have and will continue to see until the end of 2024 -
