By simply searching the phrase "Pinterest" into Depop and Vinted, thousands of items flood in, all fitting in someway with a certain aesthetic which can be found on the platform itself. 

A report published last year in 2023 about Pinterests insights stated that 83% of weekly Pinterest users have reportedly made a purchase before based on content they had seen on the platform. With many popular influencers using the platform, 78% of users stated that the content they viewed from influencers is influential in their purchasing decisions when viewing their pins on the platform, showing the extent of influence Pinterest has on its users. 

Although its influential trait is not a recent discovery. In 2017, 70% of its female users claimed to save at least one style inspired pin to their account. 42% of women users claimed that Pinterest had helped them discover the largest number of styles and trends compared to any other social media platform. The data discovered within them years suggested that Pinterest takes the lead when the topic of driving the highest purchase intent in comparison to other platforms, with a high 93% of its active pinners using the platform for planned purchases. 


This not only supports the claim of Pinterest's scale of influence, but further shows the extent of user behaviour from interaction with the platform.
